Senior Science Advisor and Director of Educational Outreach

Markus Pössel holds a doctorate in physics and has extensive experience in the development and management of science outreach projects. He is charged with spearheading the Festival's educational outreach efforts, including an international cooperative web project, lectures, informal talks and workshops for students and teachers, and he also contributes to the Festival's strategic planning.

Pössel joins the Festival from the Max Planck Institute of Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute), where on the occasion of the World Year of physics 2005, he created the outreach website, Einstein Online. An award-winning author and editor of books and articles about topics ranging from physics and astronomy to archaeology and psychology, he has also worked as a science consultant, translator, and contributor to science-related exhibitions.
